Discover the immune boosting properties of Beta Glucans

Move over Vitamin C, there’s a new supplement on the scene that’s ready to take your cold-boosting crown. Beta-glucans have been found to have surprising immune-boosting properties that could help you to maintain good health.

Vitalize Health have developed a supplement which helps to boost your immune system even when it has been weakened by stress and poor diet or run down by illness or medical treatments.

But how exactly does it work?

Beta-Glucan 1-3, 1-6 triggers an enhanced immune response which enables the body’s defence system to attack and overwhelm invaders such as an illness or virus. The glucans activate white blood cells and leave them ready to attack, creating a rapid response to infection.

For a more detailed look at how they work check out the video below.

Professor Ron Eccles, from the Common Cold Centre at University of Cardiff, says: “Beta-glucans are complex sugar molecules that modulate the immune response to infection by mimicking components of microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi.

“There is some evidence that taking beta-glucans may help prevent common cold infection and this is a very interesting development as I believe that modulation of our immune response is the best way to combat these common infections.”

How do I use it?

It’s recommended to take one a day to maintain a healthy immune system, but if you feel like you are coming down with something like a cold you can increase the dose to help to fight it off faster.

I was sent a sample of Vitalize Health Glucosan to trial, and while it’s hard to say just how effective these supplements are, I do think they helped to support my recovery when I had a virus over Christmas.
